Mendelsohn: Reilly letter full of misinformation

Posted

The letter from Brian Reilly (“Resident confused about narrative,” Sun City West Independent, Sept. 29, 2021) should have never been published as it is full of mis/disinformation and the newspaper should have fact checked Mr. Reilly.

Although the Gates Foundation has been involved in health issues and he has doubted the validity of the Food and Drug Administration in 2020, during the Trump Administration, but that is no longer the case.

I am fully aware of all the false narrative, and the best thing to do is to hopefully trust your physician. I was quite fearful being elderly with lots of health issues and allergies and recall getting quite ill when given a flu vaccine. However, after consultation with several of my physicians, I made an appointment that day at Walgreens and got my first shot; I’m now fully vaccinated.

I know how important this is even though it does not mean that one will not catch COVID, but if they should, their symptoms should be less severe just like if you had a flu, shingles, pneumonia, etc. vaccine. You may still get it, but it will more than likely not require a hospitalization. I had COVID last year and was in the hospital three times, and I can tell you it is no picnic.

There is so much mis/disinformation out there that this article is reckless and dangerous to all those not knowing which way to turn. The Pfizer vaccine is fully FDA approved, and the others are soon to follow, and soon young ones will be able to get it as well.

IF everyone does not do their part to curb/rid us of this pandemic, it will just continue; look at the stats once the mask mandate was removed; Arizona has thousands of cases each day and more than 100 deaths per day when there used to be zero.

The best advice is to check with your physician(s) and go from there making an informed decision! I did and I’m glad that I did as I don’t feel so trapped at home and can go do a few things while still wearing a mask because of others as yourself that just don’t care about themselves or those around them, failing to do the American thing during a public health crisis!

Thank you — stay safe!
