McKinney: President’s remarks were troubling

Posted

This is in response to an article relating to the Recreation Centers of Sun City Wesr (“SCW board president tackles misinformation,” Sun City West Independent, Oct. 6, 2021).

This is hubris and hypocrisy. Why won’t Ms. Fitzsimons let the recall matter rest. She states that it is “good” to have the recall matter off the shoulders of the board. Why was that snarky remark necessary? This is the same woman who a couple of weeks ago referred to the election results down to the 1/100th decimal point.

Ms. Fitzsimons remarks are troublesome. The board violated their oath of office by permitting the recall election to even take place. The overwhelming number of signatures requesting a recall were collected by a rec center employee! I wonder if that person was on the clock when they collected those signatures. There is a damaging conflict of interest here.

Then there are the reasons for the recall. All but one was false. The board had an obligation to ensure the recall had integrity. It did not do this. This “misinformation” was further endorsed by the board when they refused any avenue to Mr. Mancuso to correct the record. The opportunity to defend oneself from slander and “misinformation” is a fundamental right! Unless, of course, you have ruffled the feathers of the rec center management and some board members. Shame on you, Ms. Fitzsimons. You are hardly in a position to speak about “misinformation.” “Let he who is without guilt cast the first stone.”

The “recall” is void in that it did not follow the principles of due process. Since when do rec center employees go out and collect signatures to recall a board member that has pissed off a couple of board members and the administration? Top that off with refusing that board member any means to defend himself. The board knew that all but one of the reasons for recall were false. They themselves had an obligation to correct that! I am ashamed that this travesty was permitted to continue.

I believe that Ms. Fitzsimons seems to be enjoying herself a little too much. The level of my belief that this is so can be measured down to 1/00th of a decimal point.
