Lux: Come on, just wear the masks!

Posted

The article on the front page says a first-term legislator convinced other lawmakers in our State House to ignore mask mandates.

It wasn’t a lawmaker, politician or president who created the vaccines, it was scientists. Just like it wasn’t lawmakers or politicians who discovered that AIDS is spread solely by sexual intercourse or in the old days by blood transfusions from an AIDS-infected person.

Scientists say COVID isn’t spread by having sex, like AIDS, it’s spread from the moisture in our breath. What stops that? A mask!

People who don’t wear masks are not following people who are smart, they’re following people they want to believe are smart — but they’re not scientists either. If they were, they’d be saying wear a mask.

Scientists got rid of polio by having everyone in the country quarantined who came into contact with someone with polio until a vaccination was invented by scientists. The families had to stay indoors, had to have a sign saying “Quarantined” on their front doors to warn off any visitors, and nobody said, “Oh I think I’ll go spread the disease anyway.”

They stayed home, got food from deliveries left on their doorstep by neighbors (I remember that!) and the disease was squashed. If somebody had polio, there were people out there doing contact tracing to see who all might be infected that needed to be warned and kept away from others until several days passed and the all-clear was given for them.

It worked. It could work again if everyone worked to do the right thing and wear a mask, keep away from others, get their shots, and quit whining about having to be careful until the pandemic is squashed.

Thanks to scientists, you don’t have to worry about getting diphtheria, small pox, measles, TB, the plague — lots of diseases.

If we don’t wear masks until the disease is squashed, we’re not going to be allowed into countries where they’ve gotten rid of the disease, and many countries are now stopping international flow already.

Congress is being slowed down from getting the relief money out, which is another republican ploy to make Biden’s plans thwarted – and being helped by the people who most need the money.

Republicans know Trump lost. But there are still a few creeps in power who are collecting funds from people who are still sending money to them!

Meanwhile the GOP is trying to create as many laws as they can to make voting harder for minorities and in many democratic areas.
