Bowling fees will increase and the Recreation Centers of Sun City West Governing Board will consider capital improvement recommendations from the Sports Pavilion manager.
Sports Pavilion Manager Barry Hardesty presented the fee recommendation Feb. 7 during the RCSCW workshop meeting, as well as the budgeted capital expenditures. Mr. Hardesty recommended a 5 percent increase for residents equating to $2.80 per game. Non-residents will play $3.35 for league play with a 3 percent increase to $8 for league summer play. For the chartered bowling club, the price will increase 4 percent to $6.25 per game.
“We are going to invest $250,000 in scoring and in the business world to make that up, you have to have a major capital investment,” Mr. Hardesty said. “That price alone will take us 10 years just to pay for the scoring.”
A motion and the recommendation passed for the bowling rate increase.
Mr. Hardesty brought a capital improvement recommendation to the board as well for a new scoring option for the bowling center, which is now 10 years old. He recommended the $250,000 for the new system and said Brunswick is finalizing the total cost.
“Additionally, a remodel on the bathrooms, gas in the restaurant portion, new counter on front desk and the replacement of an outside storage is planned,” he said.
The capital improvement recommendation was continued for further discussion.
The RCSCW board will next meet 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 in the lecture hall at R.H. Johnson Recreation Center, 19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd.
