Leighton: Bag supply exceeds mat production

Please do not donate any more plastic bags at this time.

Thanks to the overwhelming support of our neighbors and friends of the Corte Bella Vets and The American Legion’s Sun City West Mary Ellen Piotrowski Post 94, we collected more plastic bags than the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Scottsdale’s homeless ministry has space to hold while the group knits the plastic into the mats needed for the homeless in the Phoenix area.

The collection containers will still be in place at the Sun City West Foundation’s Helping Hands and the Corte Bella Fitness Center until Friday, Feb 26 and no bags will be accepted at either location after that date.

A sincere thank-you to everyone who participated in this project to help our area homeless!
