KELLY, HOLMES: Showed there is way too much hate

Posted

On the corners of R.H. Johnson Boulevard and Camino Del Sol June 15, a group of Sun City West and Sun City residents demonstrated for Black Lives Matter and all Humans.

For those that honk their appreciation, thank you.
For the person that said, “White people’s life matter,” you are right, but we do not see young white people getting shot on our streets. For the man that gave us the finger, I would hope you went home and felt good about yourself. For the man in the red pickup that had so much anger on his face and shouted profanities, I feel sorry for you. For the people that went by and shouted “Trump in 2020,” how do you not know that there were Trump supporters in our group?

All this just reinforced my believe that there is way too much hate in this country and it would not hurt to exhibit some love instead.

For those that stood there on the corner with their signs, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is people like you that gives us hope for this wonderful free country of ours.

I am a Vietnam veteran, so I served my country. I may not have supported our involvement in the conflict, but I did not hide behind bone spurs or any other medical deficiency, which I could have as I am legally blind in one eye.

Former New York Mayor John Lindsey said it, “Democracy may not be the perfect form of government, but when compared others form, it is so much better.”

God Bless America and everyone stay safe out there and wash your hands and wear your masks.
