Watch your cats and dogs outside! — Linda Casazza-Perone

So sad. — Flores Sandra

Watch out!

Heard some outside in the field behind my house a few weeks back. Wouldn’t let my dog go outside without me. Went for my walk later that night and saw four of them (shined my flashlight on them), three normal size ones and a much larger one. After I rounded the school on my walk, I saw the larger one again by itself. They can scale a six-foot wall like it’s nothing. — Jon Shearer

I have seen a hawk carry off a cat about six years ago and an owl attempted to take one as well, but apparently the cat was too fat. You may or may not be aware that the mountain lion population has increased considerably over the 16 years I have lived here. I have seen one in the White Tanks and my understanding is they have about 80 square miles that they roam. Let’s not forget about the bobcats, rattlesnakes, brown recluse, black widows and cow killers that have and will continue to kill or do heavy damage to your pets. I guess they are not thought of because they are out of sight and out of mind. We seem to forget that we still live in the desert and so do they. — Mark Christian
