Karaoke Club honors ‘super seniors’
Posted
The Karaoke Club of Sun City West recently honored its “super seniors,” those who have celebrated at least 90 years, and each was presented with a booklet that included their life’s philosophy and photographs from their time in the club.
A club member was selected to sing each honoree’s favorite song and everyone had a slice of birthday cake. The party was the brainchild of club “sunshine lady,” Marcine Coburn with help from Karen Devers.
Club members are auditioning their acts Thursday evenings at the social hall at R.H. Johnson Rec Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and singing starts at 6 p.m.
Practice sessions are 5-7 p.m. Mondays in the Beardsley center’s Arts and Crafts building. Singers can access more than 260,000 song titles on the club’s data system or upload their own songs.
Contact president Byron Brothers for more information: ByronBrothers@gmail.com or 719-291-0379.
The club is open to members and their accompanied guests. Annual membership is $10 and the nightly singing fee for members is $2 and $3 for singing guests. Listening is free. Cups and ice are provided. Membership forms are available Thursday evenings or on the club’s website, karaoke.scwclubs.com.
