Jordan: Concerned about permit requests

Sun City
I read, with concern. the article (“Overlay decision in limbo,” Sun City Independent, Dec. 7, 2022) regarding the age overlay issue in Sun City.
When you purchase in Sun City you sign the CC&R’s and are obligated to abide by what they include. Period end of case. Apparently some feel those rules don’t apply to them.
We who have been around for a while are aware of what happened in Youngtown and know what Youngtown became. I vaguely recall a survey being done in Youngtown periodically to determine that the correct resident mixture was being maintained. But, in the 40 years I’ve been in and around Sun City, I have never once heard about a survey being conducted
Sun City is a very nice well maintained community and it would be very sad to see it turn into a ghetto. I no longer live in Sun City, but my folks built there in 1971. I have fond memories of the community and its many positives. If you haven’t driven through Youngtown or El Mirage you need to, this is what Sun City could become. This issue needs to be addressed with vigor.
