The Sun City West Investment Club announces a lineup of speakers for the club’s winter/spring season, including a Feb. 14 visit from Kelley Wright, of Investment Quality Trends (IQT).

Wright is the Managing Editor of IQT, a biweekly newsletter focused on capital preservation, an immediate return on investment and harvesting of long-term capital appreciation, when appropriate.  He’s a national speaker and frequent contributor in the financial press. Many members of the club utilize the IQT strategy and are delighted to have this rare opportunity to meet and discuss the IQT format with him.

In the spring of 2020, with the closure of the RCSCW facilities, the club was faced with shuttering its program of weekly speakers on investment and financial topics.

“We needed to keep going, in whatever way we could, during that challenging first year of the pandemic,” says Steve Cratsenberg, President. The club decided to pivot to running the fall schedule via Zoom and found it quite successful in maintaining the club’s activity during that time and into 2021.

“We found it actually opened up some new possibilities for us–in getting the attention of speakers from around the country, including ‘The Motley Fool,’” adds Ellen Zacko, Director of Programs.

Now that the rec center facilities are open, the club meets primarily in person at the Lecture Hall, under a hybrid format, continuing with Zoom for those who wish to use it or are out of town.

“While most members now come in person,” notes Cratsenberg, “it’s a wonderful tool for our snowbirds to keep in touch with club members in the summer and engage in the informal weekly discussions held here in Sun City West.”

The Sun City West Investment Club is a chartered social/hobby club that provides education to assist in making informed investment decisions. Club members make their own financial decisions, using their own financial resources. The club does not provide financial advice. It meets 6:30-8 p.m. Mondays in the R.H. Johnson Lecture Hall, and is open to membership for any Sun City West resident with an RCSCW card. Many members provide presentations throughout the year to share ideas. New members are welcome, including those partly or newly retired. Volunteers with investment and/or computer skills are highly appreciated in helping with the club’s activities.

Contact Cratsenberg at 360-481-3976 with any questions or for more information.
