Harla M. Farnham

Harla M. Farnham passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born in Beatrice, Nebraska, on August 2, 1935, to Bennie and Esther Dockhorn. She met the love of her life, Glen Farnham when her family moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1950. They were married for 69 years. This union produced two children, Lynne and Gregory. Being the wife of a career military officer, she completed her BS degree in Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha while her husband served two tours at SAC Headquarters in Omaha. She did some substitute teaching at several elementary schools in the area. She enjoyed the many travels associated with military life, especially the three-year tour in England during the mid-60s when they traveled throughout the British Isles and to several European countries.
Harla was preceded in death by her father Bennie, her mother Esther, and an older sister Bennie Lou. She is survived by her younger sister Georgia, husband Glen, two children Lynne and Gregory, two grandchildren Matthew and Andrew, and several nieces and nephews.
After her husband retired from the Air Force in 1978 they returned to Loveland. After several cold winters, they headed for Sun City West, Arizona where they have lived since 1984. Harla was active in Jazzercise, Questers, and the Sun Cities Museum where she was a docent. She served as the “Picture Lady, “ taking quality art pieces into local elementary schools for discussion and conducting art projects. She has resided at Brookdale Camino del Sol Memory Care for the last year. Harla will be cremated and buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona where a private family memorial service will be held. Contributions can be made in Harla’s memory to BrightFocus Foundation-Alzheimer’s Disease Research or a charity of your choice.
