Ghostlight Theatre opens its first play of 2020 on its Sun City West stage this weekend.

Ghostlight, at 13541 W. Camino Del Sol, will host a 7 p.m. opening night Thursday, Jan. 16. Shows continue through Jan. 26.

“Just an over the top story about good versus evil, with likable characters,” show director Linda Mendenhall stated.

As the story goes, Nell and her wise old aunt are about to lose the family homestead to an unscrupulous banker, who will forgive the mortgage under one condition: Nell must marry him. Nell and her aunt call on a hero to save the day. Unfortunately, despite his recent law degree, he’s not very bright

There’s intrigue and deception, until the truth about the homestead is finally revealed.

“It is about a ruthless deceitful villain who tries to take advantage of the young innocent maiden and her family in their hour of need,” Ms. Mendenhall stated. “However, in stories like these there is always a hero that comes in to save the day.”

The cast features Olivia Odom (Prompter), Victoria Reinhard (Ma Wilkins), Joseph Pinuelas (Pa Wilkins), Chris Ulbrich (Stage Manager), Linzey Connor (Nell Wilkins), Light Mosser (Carlton Bainbridge) and Joey Whelan (Hector Skyscraper).

Tickets $20.
