Pastors of Faith Presbyterian Church of Sun City, Rev. Mike and Rev. Sheryl Campbell, welcomed former staff, friends and members attending the 50th anniversary banquet Feb. 4 at the church, 16000 N. Del Webb Blvd.

Introductions by chair of the anniversary committee Linda St. Pierre followed. Dinner was served, prepared by Jane Coughlin, with special music by pianist Nicole Pesce.

Following dinner, memories were shared by video, letters and in person. Special greetings came from the family of Rev. J. Davis Illingworth, founding pastor of Faith, in the form of a historical video.

The program consisted of remarks from special guests including Sue Park, wife of Rev. Fran Park, Head of Staff 1984-1998, and Betty Forsberg, wife of Rev. David Forsberg, Associate Pastor 1986-1991. Personal remarks were given by former staff members Rev. Deanne Hodgson, Associate Pastor, Rev. Patricia Mason, Pastoral Care, Rev. Gloria Sannermark, Associate Pastor, and Rev. Dr. Harris Schultz, Interim Pastor.

Former Head of Staff David VanArsdale and his wife Ellen provided a video of their memories of Faith Church. Letters were read from former staff members Rev. Paula Valle, Associate Pastor, Rev. Alice Geils Nord, Associate Pastor, Rev. Barbara Falwell, Associate Pastor, and Rev. Joan Miller. Rev. Miller’s reflections highlighted memories of long-time building and grounds superintendent Peter Bugilan and his wife Rodica, also present.

A “History Walk” of photos, articles and memorabilia was available for viewing enjoyment before the banquet. The collection will be available during office hours and Sundays through Feb. 28.

The Sunday worship service on Feb. 5 followed the liturgy and music from the first worship service held 50 years ago. Rev. Mike and Rev. Sheryl along with former Associate Pastor Rev. Peggy Roberts and former pastoral associates mentioned above led in worship. Rev. Dr. Brad Munroe, Presbytery Pastor, gave the sermon called “Chrysallis.” Faith Choir’s anthem “Cornerstone” was a special feature. The anniversary weekend was a grand celebration of honoring the past and looking forward to the future.
