Eye institute in Sun Cities hosting school drive

Posted

The Arizona Eye Institute and Cosmetic Laser Center is hosting a school supply drive to help local children prepare for the upcoming school year.

“The last couple years have been a real challenge for local school children,” said Emilio M. Justo, M.D., Arizona Eye Institute founder and director. “Our goal is to ensure every child has the important tools they need to thrive during the 2022-23 school year.”

The 33-year practice, known for its laser eyelid surgery and customized cataract surgery as well as vision exams and cosmetic care, has hosted the drive on an annual basis. The Salvation Army Northwest Valley Corps will collect the donations and work with local schools and officials to ensure the children and families most in need receive the generous gifts.

“We are all eager to get back into the normal swing of things in the upcoming school year,” Justo said. “This summer we can help many local children in a big way to catch up after what has been a couple of challenging school years.”

The effort will collect those important tools many children often go without, but truly need to thrive and focus on their education.

Many have conducted mini drives among neighborhood, friends, family and workplaces in order to donate a bulk of generous supplies to the Salvation Army offices, or any of the three practice locations during office hours.

“We encourage you to make it fun!” said Justo.

The Salvation Army works directly with the schools and local agencies to ensure the families with most need receive your generous donations.
