Honorary Regent Pamela Miller, of the The Estrella Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, presented the Hannah White Arnett Medal and certificate to historian/author Jim Bish during the group’s January member meeting.
The presentation of the award was deferred from April 2024 due to scheduling conflicts.
The Hannah White Arnett Medal is one of DAR’s newest recognitions. It may be awarded to a member in good standing of the Sons of the American Revolution General Society, Sons of the Revolution, for unselfish devotion, tireless efforts and assistance to the DAR; someone who has dedicated his time, energy, talents, and/or resources to the organization in support and furtherance of the DAR mission of historic preservation, education and patriotism over a period of time.
Bish is the author of “I Can’t Tell a Lie,” about George Washington and his biographer Parson Weems. He has given historical presentations to the Estrella Chapter and several other DAR chapters in the West Valley, as well as the Saguaro SAR Chapter.
Daughters of the American Revolution Society was founded in 1890. Women descendants of persons who served or aided the cause of the Revolution are eligible to join.
The Estrella Chapter meets on the second Thursday of each month, October through May, at the Sun City West Foundation, 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd.
