The Desert Winds Steel Orchestra will present a concert 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Advent Episcopal Church, 13150 Spanish Garden Drive.

The group began performing with eight members in 1997 and has now grown to 15 members. The musical art form they perform is known as “pan” in its homeland of Trinidad and Tobago. The program will include Latin and pop songs and island tunes.

Some of the songs will be “Spanish Harlem,” “Dream Lover,” “Downtown,” “Mary’s Boy Child” and a “Phantom of the Opera Medley.” The group’s director is Jerry Lopatin.

This is a free community event and a goodwill offering may be made. Call 623-584-0350 or visit Adventaz.org for more information.

The final concert in the season series will be Sunday, May 7, with a Surprise Pops Band performance.
