Demonstrations show club members new possibilities

Members of Scrapbooking, Papercrafts and More have access to a vast inventory of specialized paper-crafting tools and devices to assist them in creating beautiful works of art.

Each month demonstrations are provided on some of the more elaborate devices used in the clubroom. Lu-Ann Grillo recently demonstrated how to use the club’s electronic Cricut cutting device.

After inserting a cartridge loaded with a gallery of designs and placing the coordinating keyboard template over the device, Grillo demonstrated how to select a desired design-in this case an alphabet font-from the design gallery.

Using the keyboard, she selected the specific letters she needed in either capital or lowercase letters and resized the letters to fit her project. At the push of a button the Cricut machine cut out the desired letters from the designer paper Grillo inserted into the paper tray.

Those who enjoy stamping, cardmaking, or scrapbooking (traditional/digital) or would like to learn new paper-crafting techniques and tools can visit SPAM’s clubroom, meet members and take a look at the club’s crafting equipment.

SPAM meets in Beardsley’s Agave Room on Wednesdays (4-9 p.m./winter), Thursdays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), Fridays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 a.m.-5 p.m).
