David Earl Cardinal

David E Cardinal, 92, former resident of Petersburg IN, passed peacefully of natural causes on Sept 6th, 2023, in his group home is Scottsdale, AZ surrounded by his son Kyle and daughter in law Jill Cardinal. David was born December 29th, 1930, in Petersburg IN, son of late Peter Cardinal and late Shirley (Norton) Cardinal. David was the fourth youngest of 11 children: Mildred, Orville, John, Raymond, Vera, Elizabeth, William, David, Robert, Kathryn, and Martha. David is survived by his sister Katie who lives near St. Louis, MO. David met Patricia Ann Sanders at Petersburg High School and wed on Feb 3rd, 1951, and were married for 71 years. David joined the Air Force shortly after their wedding and retired in Glendale AZ near Luke AFB as CMSGT after 26 years of service at the age of 47. After a few years of retirement, he decided to go back to work for the U.S.P.S. and carried mail for another 12 years. Upon retirement from the USPS, David and Patricia moved to Sun City West where they remained for many years. David leaves two sons, Keith in Eagle ID, and Kyle in Scottsdale AZ, four grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. David’s military career took his family to AFBs in Sioux City IA, Madrid Spain, Clovis NM, Colorado Springs CO, Oahu HI, back to Clovis NM, and retirement in Glendale AZ. David was proud of his military service and a proud American citizen. David was well known to his family and friends as an avid and skilled golfer and played hundreds of rounds with his family and friends during retirement at Hillcrest GC in Sun City West. David will join deceased wife Patrica at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City West on Friday Sept 15 at a private ceremony with Military Honors.
