Composer of sacred music in concert at Sun City church
Posted
Joseph Martin, choral director and composer of sacred music, will be in concert 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Bellevue Church, 9440 W. Hutton Drive.
Everyone is invited to attend and admission is free.
Martin will direct a choir of more than 100 voices, including the Bellevue Heights Singers and members of the Sounds of the Southwest Singers as they showcase some of his many works.
An accomplished pianist, Martin is one of the more prolific composers of sacred music today. His music is published by numerous publishing houses. More than two thousand compositions are in print, and the list continues to grow. His major works include 50 choral cantatas.
Martin is a member of the staff at the Hal Leonard Corporation and Shawnee Press, Inc., as Director of Sacred Publications, responsible for overseeing the editorial and creative direction of the company. He is co-founder of a travel experience “Journeys With Joe.” The program connects musicians and singers with extraordinary tours throughout the world.
His music can be heard in such diverse locations as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City, Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City and the Lawrence Welk Theater in Branson, Missouri. In worship services throughout the country, parishioners experience the variety and scope of his compositions and arrangements.
