Colonial Dames elect officers, hear Chinese history

The Sonora Chapter of Colonial Dames 17th Century met March 22 at Grandview Terrace in Sun City West. New officers were elected for the 2023-25 term. Those officers will be installed at the April 26 meeting.
Guest speaker for the March meeting was Parliamentarian Pamela Miller, of Sun City. Miller presented an in-depth survey of Chinese history, along with her own impressions of the People’s Republic of China from her travels there.
Her presentation was consistent with the goals of Colonial Dames, namely the preservation of historic sites and records. China has a long and storied history. Members were amazed at the multiple Chinese dynasties and the evolution of the Chinese sense of national purpose.
Vice President RJ Doria wore a silk, embroidered robe from China to enhance the presentation.
