The Easter bunny isn’t the only one preparing for the coming springtime holiday. Members of Scrapbooking, Papercraft & More convened to handcraft an abundance of paper baskets in a rainbow of colors for residents participating in the Sun City West Meals on Wheels program.
Sharon Marinello, SPAM’s Meals on Wheels program coordinator, organized the philanthropic workshop. Using designer cardstock in bright colorful patterns, members cut and fashioned traditional cone-shaped goodie holders, which they edged with ribbon and embellished with die cut paper flowers before filling them with treats and wrapping them in cellophane.
The hand-crafted Easter baskets bring cheer to home-bound residents who, despite being unable to participate in local activities, know they’re not forgotten during special holidays.
Anyone interested in stamping, cardmaking or scrapbooking (traditional or digital) can visit SPAM’s clubroom, meet members and check out the club’s crafting tool inventory. SPAM meets in Beardsley’s Agave Room on Wednesdays (4-9 p.m./winter), Thursdays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), Fridays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 a.m.-5 p.m.).
