Business name: Assisting Hands Home Care, 10220 W. Bell Road Suite 111, Sun City; 602-847-7117.
Personal background highlights: Originally from upstate New York, now live in Glendale.
Professional background highlights: I have 16 years of experience in business management, includes managing restaurant franchises in the northeast and project management for multi-million dollar utility companies. I was also in Idaho law enforcement for 12 years, sheriff’s deputy and K-9 handler for nine years.
What I do: Anything outdoors, soccer, hiking, hunting, obstacle course races.
What I like most about doing business here: There isn’t a better place than Sun City and the surrounding areas to help seniors receive the care they need.
Previous occupation and why I left: My last career was in project management. I left because of a situation my mother’s husband experienced at a rehab facility. He was given medication for his “dementia” that he didn’t need to be receiving, it was to keep him quiet as he was asking about being released that week and wanted to go home.
Changes I’d like to see in this area: I would love to see more programs to get seniors out in the community and socializing. We are looking at different ways to promote this from our office.
What am I promoting: We offer quality in-home care to clients who want to stay in their own home or living facility. We are partnering with the Parkinson’s Foundation to provide extra training to all our caregivers along with other CEU classes that are required for our office. We only hire people we would put in our own families’ homes and enjoy helping families who are not local set up and get care for their loved ones.
What I’m excited about and why: I’m excited about the future of our office as we continue to expand with quality, not quantity, to help more and more seniors in our area. So many seniors are without quality care they need.
My Family: I have two daughters who are 21 and 23. They live in Idaho and North Carolina. They are out conquering the world and making memories.
People who inspire me (and how): My mother, who has inspired two of my businesses. The first being a training company that focuses on women’s self defense and Awareness, and the second being this in-home care business. As a single mother she always made sure my brother, sister and I had everything she could give us working two or more jobs to make it happen.
