Benevilla workshop covers ‘Dignity and Memory Care’

Posted

Benevilla their announces next “Live on Zoom” educational workshop of 2022 will be 1:30-3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18. This presentation, titled “Maintaining Dignity and Memory Care,” features expert senior care partner Paige Fairbanks-Gunn, CDP, Relationship Manager for the Arizona Region with Koelsch Communities.

Dementia is a general term used to describe a decline in mental ability severe enough to impair a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. Understanding how to care for someone with dementia can be difficult for anyone. When caring for a person with dementia there is a tendency to focus on what a person cannot do. Fairbanks-Gunn will explore memory care options where the focus is maintaining dignity and celebrating abilities.

Fairbanks-Gunn has been helping seniors and their families since 1997. She has worked in skilled nursing, hospice, dementia care, transitional care, assisted and independent living. She has been with Koelsch Communities since 2011 and has been involved in several new startup communities and helped open all seven Arizona Koelsch Communities. She has worked with more than 3,000 families in her career.

This free presentation is the last of the Benevilla C.A.R.E.S. Virtual “Educational Workshop” series. Starting this summer, Benevilla will return to in-person workshops hosted at their Surprise main campus. Each of these workshops feature carefully selected professionals who can answer questions and provide guidance and resources needed to prepare for senior life changes. Upcoming workshops cover a broad range of important topics from in-home care management and hospice to estate preparation and tax savings tips.

Reservations are required. Call 623-584-4999 or visit benevilla.org/community-events.
