Benevilla passes $7,000 mark during fundraiser
Funding will bolster home services in West Valley
Posted
Benevilla participated in the seventh-annual Give65 event, hosted by Home Instead Charities, in July to raise funds for its home services program.
The Benevilla Home Services Program helps West Valley older adults and adults with disabilities stay independent in their homes for as long as possible by providing free volunteer supported services such as grocery shopping, assisted transportation to medical appointments, wellness checks, phone pals and more.
Services are available short- or long-term to those with limited resources and options.
Give65 is a 65-hour online fundraising event to help nonprofit organizations serving seniors raise funds online and increase awareness. This year, the 65-hour event kicked off July 12 at 7 a.m. and ran until 11:59 p.m. July 14.
Benevilla raised more than $7,000.
“We are so thankful for everyone who donated during the Give65 event and for the support from Home Instead Charities. We are grateful to the local Home Instead Home Health Care locations in Surprise owned by Debbie Gross and Steve Conroy and Sun City owned by Vicki and Scott Castleman for helping to make this all possible” said Sara Villanueva, vice president of donor relations at Benevilla. “Through all of this amazing support we are able to fulfill our mission, helping older adults remain independent as long as possible and continue working towards enriching lives of our older population.”
The senior population continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, yet the pace of government and philanthropic support for seniors has not. Often, public funding for services and programs benefiting seniors is the first to fall victim to budget cuts. This has become even more evident during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At Benevilla, many community services and programs continue to increase in demand in relation to the expanding needs of the West Valley senior population. The Surprise-based must rely heavily on the generous financial support of the community to continue providing these programs and services helping older adults to remain independent at home and age with dignity.
