Benevilla invites Arizona Gives Day support, hosts drive-thru community shred-a-thon

Posted

Benevilla has joined Arizona Gives Day 2021, a grassroots statewide day of giving, in inviting Arizonans to support their favorite nonprofit causes by visiting azgives.org/Benevilla.

Donations are being accepted through April 6.

This year, donations are needed even more as the evolving COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people live and the needs of the community.

It has become especially hard for the senior population struggling to remain independent at home. Donations received through this online platform will support the Benevilla, free to the community, Home Services Program.

There are approximately 254,000 West Valley residents who are seniors or adults with disabilities and many do not have a personal support network to assist them. Benevilla is continuing to meet the urgent needs of older adults in the West Valley with their volunteer driven Home Services program offering free grocery shopping assistance, phone pals, emergency errands (pharmacy), light handyman services and transportation to vital medical appointments.

To jump-start this year's campaign, an anonymous donor has promised to match donations dollar-for-dollar to Benevilla up to the first $5,000 raised for Arizona Gives Day, therefore, doubling the impact of your gift. Donations through April 6, at azgives.org/Benevilla, will count towards the organization's fundraising total.

In addition, Benevilla has announced a drive-thru community shred-a-thon fundraiser 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (or until the two shredding trucks reach capacity) Saturday, March 27 at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church parking lot, 13724 W Meeker Blvd.

There is a six-box maximum.

Securely dispose of old documents such as:

  • Old bank and credit card statements
  • Billing statements
  • Receipts
  • Tax records and documentation (after seven years)
  • Medical records
  • Credit card receipts
  • Paycheck stubs

A minimum $4 is required per banker sized box of documents to be shredded. All participants should remain in their vehicle to safely drop off documents to be shredded curbside. Social distancing and COVID-19 preventative procedures will be in place.

“Benevilla is excited to offer this drive-thru Shred-a-Thon to our community and be able to fundraise for our much-needed services,” says Sara Villanueva, Benevilla vice president of donor relations. “Every day we are reminded how important our programs and services are to our community, especially during this unprecedented time of COVID-19. We couldn’t do it without your support.”
