Bellevue Heights Church in Sun City, 9440 W. Hutton Drive, has begun celebration of its 50th anniversary with activities known as “A Season of Thankfulness.”

During January, sermons by Pastor Rob Boyd focus on building a strong church anchored by biblical principles and the mission statement: “Following Jesus, Loving God, Loving His Church, Loving His World.”

The congregation is invited to attend a celebration banquet Friday, Feb. 4 at the Palmbrook Country Club. A special program of remembering is planned.

Bellevue Heights was organized as a mission church, with the first meeting held Jan. 30, 1972. The church was affiliated with American Baptist Churches USA for many years. Most recently, BHC is a Bible-based community church and a partner with Transformation Ministries.

“A Season of Thankfulness” will conclude 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 with a concert featuring noted sacred music composer Mary McDonald. She will direct the Bellevue Heights Singers and other community choir members in many of her well-known works. There is no charge for the concert to be held in the BHC worship center.
