Attorney will review HOA court cases

Some could impact Sun City West agencies

An attorney will discuss court cases from around the country that could impact Sun City West HOAs during a seminar hosted by the Organization of HOAs.

Curtis Ekmark, Carpenter, Hazlewood, Delgado and Bolen attorney and partner, will review important court cases from around the country that could impact Arizona HOAs during a seminar 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 in the lecture hall at R.H. Johnson Recreation Center, 19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd.

This OHOA seminar is open to OHOA members only.

Mr. Ekmark is no stranger to association issues as he has represented homeowner associations since 1993. He wrote columns for local publications and  made numerous appearances on radio and television newscasts and programs. He is Scottsdale Council of Homeowners Associations president and West Valley Homeowner Associations vice president.

Mr. Ekmark received a multitude of awards during his career, including the College of Community Association Lawyers Award, Arizona’s Finest Lawyers, Best Lawyers 2019 and the Super Lawyers Excellence in Practice Award for 2014-16 and 2020. Super Lawyers awards are limited to a small number of attorneys in each state. Mr. Ekmark is considered to be one of the top-rated attorneys in the nation.

Mr. Ekmark earned his undergraduate degree from Marquette University and his law degree from Pepperdine University. He interned for John L. Coffey, a judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and was a judicial clerk for Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Roland B. Day. Mr. Ekmark is a three-time Central Arizona Chapter of the Community Associations Institute past president, a member of the College of Community Association Lawyers and chaired the Legislative Action Committee numerous times.
