The 2021 holiday season will be marked by the dazzling return of electric light parades throughout the state.

Arizona Public Service, the state’s largest and longest running electricity provider, is helping communities celebrate the season with fun events, each with a unique local flair. The largest is the APS electric light parade, returning for its 34th year to Central Phoenix.

“The APS electric light parade is a family favorite that APS has partnered with the city of Phoenix to put on for more than 30 years,” said Stacy Derstine, APS vice president of External Affairs. “It’s an honor to be a part of it, and to join many other communities in the different events that are part of their holiday traditions, too. It’s inspiring to see so many wonderful Arizona businesses, teams, schools and other local favorites coming together to celebrate a special time of year.”

After a year’s hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the APS electric light parade returned Dec. 4. Visually stunning balloons, floats and light displays showcased the theme “Peace on Earth.” Al McCoy, legendary broadcast announcer for the Phoenix Suns since 1972, served as the Grand Marshal of this year’s parade.

Other events were also staged, including the Winslow Festival of Trees, Nov. 29-Dec, 5; Snowflake Holiday Lighting, Dec. 3; Payson electric light parade, Dec. 4; the El Mirage Winter Fest, Dec. 4; Wickenburg Chamber’s third Annual Holiday Music Walk and Christmas Tree Lighting, Dec. 4; city of Casa Grande electric light parade, Dec. 4; and Globe electric light parade, Dec. 4.

Upcoming events include Gila Bend All-A-Glow light parade and holiday lights tree lighting ceremony, Monday, Dec. 6; Taylor live nativity event, Monday, Dec. 6, and Wednesday, Dec. 8; Coolidge electric light parade, Friday, Dec. 10; Flagstaff holiday parade of light, Saturday, Dec. 11; Liychfield Park’s Christmas in the park parade, Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 11-12; Buckeye Mainstreet Coalition and city of Buckeye’s Glow on Monroe light parade, Saturday, Dec. 11; hometown holiday parade in Glendale, Saturday, Dec. 11; Gila Bend Santa in the park, Saturday, Dec. 11; Eloy Christmas tree lighting ceremony and electric light parade, Saturday, Dec. 11; Yuma Christmas light parade, Saturday, Dec. 11.
