Akos Medical Plaza, a medical office facility in Surprise, was sold to Evergreen Medical Properties and Bain Capital Real Estate.

The plaza is located at 12361 W. Bola Drive and is within five miles of two major hospitals — Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center, 14502 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West and Banner Boswell Medical Center, 10401 W. Thunderbird Blvd., Sun City.

Financial terms of the private purchase from Boomerang Capital Partners were not disclosed.

The class A medical development features a four operating room ambulatory surgery center and is anchored by Apricus Health. Akos Medical Plaza was built in 2008 and is 100% leased. In addition to a fully-renovated ambulatory surgery center, the property is home to internal medicine, cardiology, pain management, podiatry, audiology, hormone replacement, and health and wellness practices.

“Our acquisition in Akos Medical Center represents a strong addition to our portfolio in an attractive market where we expect to evaluate additional investment opportunities,” said Josh Richmond, Evergreen Medical Properties president. “We look forward to serving the needs of its tenants and the community.”

The acquisition further strengthens Bain’s reach in the medical field.

“This high-quality property located in a fast-growing Phoenix submarket aligns well with our thematic and growth-oriented approach to investing in medical office buildings and facilities,” said Elizabeth Carrillo Thomas, Bain Capital Real Estate marketing director.

Evergreen Medical Properties and Bain Capital Real Estate purchased the property from Mesa-based Boomerang Capital Partners, who acquired the class A medical development in 2019.

Evergreen Medical Properties and Bain Capital Real Estate have a joint venture to acquire, renovate and operate institutional quality health care real estate in select markets throughout the U.S. The joint venture focuses on mission critical outpatient medical office buildings.
