The local senior and family services non-profit Benevilla received cash and non-perishable food product donations as the partner charity at the third blood and fundraising donation drive of the year hosted by the Sun City West Alliance of Business and Community.
The Oct. 27 drive in the main ballroom of Briarwood Country Club located, 20800 N. 135th Ave., Sun City West, was conducted by Vitalant, formerly known as United Blood Services. Fifty-seven donors attended the blood drive and Vitalant collected 64 units of blood surpassing the agency’s goal of 52. Blood collected will benefit 192 lives in the Valley, according to Vitalant officials.
The Sun City West ABCs supports a local charity at all their blood drives. Benevilla had a display table at the event and will continue to accept donations on the website at benevilla.org/donate/.
“The efforts and the support of the Sun City West Alliance of Business and Community are greatly appreciated” said Sara Villanueva, Benevilla vice president of donor relations. “The donations we received at the event will be used for our Family Resource Center to help families in need over this holiday season.”
Started by the community and for the community in 1981, Benevilla is a not-for-profit family services agency dedicated to enriching the lives of West Valley residents by providing care services for older adults, adults with disabilities, children and families.
