West Valley honors, supports those touched by cancer

April 15 was an especially rewarding day for the more than 160 participants in Sun Health Foundation’s fourth annual Driving FORE Superior Health Charity Golf Day at Topgolf in Glendale.

Individuals, families, friends and organizations joined together to support advancements in cancer diagnostics and treatment at Banner Boswell Medical Center and honor caregivers, patients, survivors and medical professionals.

Amidst the excitement of team competitions, the day included a lot of inspiration, with messages of gratitude shared by physicians at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Drawings were conducted for great prizes — everything from premier packages at Topgolf to elaborate entertaining gift baskets.

Winners of the team competitions also were announced: First place — Jamison Davis (Brown & Brown); second place — BosWebb; third place — Barb’s Bruisers.

“It truly was a great day of golf for a purpose,” said Joan Smith, chair of the Sun Health Foundation Board of Trustees, who joined Ron Symic, chair of the Sun Health Events Committee, and Joe LaRue, president of Sun Health, in welcoming everyone and leading the event.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to support such an important cause and honor those who are touched in some way by cancer,” Smith said. “On behalf of everyone at Sun Health Foundation, thank you.”

Special appreciation is also extended to event sponsors Banner Health, HILGARTWILSON, Morrison Living, Orcutt | Winslow and Zion & Zion, as well as community partners The Brand Agency, Compassionate Home Care, Everest Hospice, Forvis, Independent Newsmedia, ROX Media Group and Ziegler.

Community support continues to be needed to fund advancements in cancer care.
