Wedding: Making area would be expensive in Sun City

Posted

In response to Judith Williams letter (“It is required to blow horns for safety,” Sun City Independent, Feb. 12, 2020) regarding train horns, I would like to point out that I believe a considerable amount of money must be involved.

All you need to do is drive down Grand Avenue to Sun City West and look at the signs posted at their crossings — “Caution: Trains Horns do not Blow.” How about that? It would not be a big problem to stop the horn blowing at night.

Not many of us are out at 3 a.m. The gates and lights should do the job, and if not, must be nature’s way of weeding out the not so careful.

As for living in a railroad town, I did too. I don’t know what years she is talking about, but in the 1950s the sound of a steam locomotive whistle was music to my ears. Air horns are not nostalgic and are just another irritant in a world already filled with too many irritants. We need to eliminate the ones we can.
