Carol Fagerland holds a bachelor of music education degree and has sung in numerous choirs over the years. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “I’ve been searching for a quality singing group since COVID. I found what I was looking for in Sun City Sings! Thanks to the dedication and collaboration of its members, the group fosters both cooperation and a commitment to excellence.” In addition to singing, Fagerland is involved in the Sun City Bell Ringers Club.

Denise Troxel, also a bachelor of music graduate, has a background in vocal music. She previously taught K-12 vocal music, directed church choirs and performed as a frequent soloist. She loves being part of SCS! because of fun atmosphere and the opportunity to connect with others who share her passion for music. One of her favorite pieces for the upcoming concert is “The Awakening,” which she admires for its beautiful melody and inspiring message.

Pat Messamer has had a varied career in vocal music. Like Troxel, she taught K-12 music, directed church choirs and remained active as a singer well into retirement. One of her most cherished memories is traveling abroad with the ASU Choral Union Choir. Messamer has also sung for many years with the West Valley Chorale and performs with the Sun City Women’s Chorus.

The Sun City Sings! spring concert will be 7 p.m. April 11 at American Lutheran Church, 17200 N. Del Webb Blvd. Admission is free, with free-will donations appreciated. Sun City Sings! is a subset of the Sun City Players Community Theater.
