Tai Chi Club presents three days of workshops and more

The Sun City Tai Chi Club presents “3 Days with Grandmaster Franklin” Taoist, Abbot Grandmaster Franklin Wood, author and teacher of workshops on improving balance and flexibility for a stronger body and brain.

Certified in Kinesiology and body mechanics, Wood will answer questions and demonstrate ways to move better. The workshops will include Singing Bowl Meditation, plus for the first time in Sun City, the Chinese tea ceremony. All former and current Tai Chi students are encouraged to attend these workshops and ceremonies.

The first workshop, 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, March 14, in the Fairway Center room AZ4, is for beginners and all Tai Chi 108 students, past and present. The second workshop, 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, March 15, in the Fairway Center room AZ3, is for intermediate and advanced students, past and present. The third workshop, 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, March 16, “Tai Chi for Arthritis, Balance & Fall Prevention” is recommended for RCSC card holders and their guests. No fitness or Tai Chi experience needed. The Chinese tea ceremony is 1 p.m., also on Thursday, March 16, in the Bell Center, SH2, followed by Singing Bowls Meditation at 2:15 p.m.

Each ceremony costs $7. Listen to the history of tea and the dramatic beginnings of the Taoist tea ceremony. The earliest written records of the of this ceremony date back to the Tang Dynasty, more than 1,200 years ago. Bring a blanket or mat and pillow. Chairs will be provided. These events are open to all RCSC cardholders and their escorted guests. Guests pay an additional $2.50.
