Sweet Honey in the Rock to play in Wickenburg

Sweet Honey in the Rock, an a cappella ensemble, will perform “Celebrating the HolyDays” 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts, 1090 S. Vulture Mine Road.

This concert includes sign language interpretation and features Sweet Honey in the Rock’s blend of African-American musical traditions, including gospel, blues and jazz. As part of their festive tour, the female quartet will perform a selection of seasonal classics, original compositions and uplifting songs that reflect the spirit of the “holydays.” Accompanied by bassist Romeir Mendez, the ensemble will deliver inspirational melodies blended with elements of hip-hop, folk and world music.

Founded in 1973, the three-time Grammy Award nominated ensemble hails from Washington D.C.

Tickets are available now, starting at $40 for adults and $5 for ages 18 and younger. They can be purchased at dewpac.org or by calling the box office at 928-684-6624.
