Sundial Auditorium gets a new piano
Posted
In 2020, the Recreation Centers of Sun City approved an expenditure of $20,000 for a replacement piano for the stage in the Sundial Auditorium. Ken Frerichs, the incoming president of the Piano Club of Sun City, was persistent in his effort to get this item in the budget.
This fall, he, Eric Laubach (incoming vice-president) and Gloria Lien (teacher) shopped for a piano, visiting several stores and playing numerous models. Their recommendation to RCSC was to purchase a nine-foot ebony Kawai concert grand piano.
It has had one previous owner and has been extensively rebuilt so that in the committee’s opinion it, “looks brand new and has a spectacular appearance and sound.” The Steinway that was on stage is now in the new Piano Club studio.
