Posted

The Rhythm Ramblers, Sun City’s original big band, will kick off its fall season of performances Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the Bell Center Social Hall, 16820 N. 99th Ave. Doors open at 2 p.m. and music is from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Drinks and snacks may be brought in; cups and ice are provided.

“We’ll play waltz, polka, tango, cha cha, and line dance music, as usual,” said Music Director Bryan Altherr, “but our special emphasis will be on swing!” Drummer Ken French will offer his take on Benny Goodman’s “Sing, Sing, Sing,” and bassist Rick Lamb will tackle Thad Jones’s “This Bass was Made for Walkin’.” Lead singer Jane Higgs will share vocal duties with trombonist Jim Lee (“Choo Choo Ch-Boogie”) and guitarist Lynn Altherr (“September in the Rain”).

Members of the Rhythm Ramblers Club get in free. Recreation Centers of Sun City cardholders may join the club for the remainder of 2024 for $10 or pay a single-dance admission of $5. Escorted guests pay $7. Reservations are recommended for parties of four or more. Call Lynn Altherr at 602-909-7586 to reserve a table.

The Rhythm Ramblers will return to Sundial for their Nov. 5 and Dec. 3 first Tuesday dances.

Call Rick Lamb at 602-677-8841 for more information about club membership and activities.
