Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church will host Rudy Soliz, director of operations at the Justa Center, for a presentation on the importance of addressing senior homelessness and the work of the Justa Center.
This special event will take place 8:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in the Fellowship Hall at Shepherd of the Hills, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd.
Soliz will share insights into the Justa Center’s mission, its clientele and the transformative programs they offer to address the unique challenges faced by homeless senior citizens. He will also highlight the inspiring efforts of the “peanut butter people,” a group of volunteers from the community and members of Shepherd of the Hills church who gather 8 a.m. Mondays in the Fellowship Hall to prepare 600 sandwiches for the Justa Center.
The Justa Center, located in Phoenix, is the only day resource center in the Valley exclusively focused on serving homeless seniors aged 55 and older. By providing services such as case management, housing assistance and supportive programs, the center helps individuals transition from homelessness to stability.
This event is open to all community members interested in learning more about senior homelessness and discovering ways to make a difference.
