The Sun City Ukulele Club continues to showcase local talent with a benefit concert 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, on the Sundial stage.
Jane Higgs, lead singer for the Rhythm Ramblers and the Sun City Concert Band, has played the sax for that band since 2000. Her masters in choral conducting, from Colorado State University, made her the perfect choice to lead the Women’s Chorus for five years and now her own church choir for the past two years.
Higgs joined the Sun City Ukulele Club in 2019 and taught herself how to play. “The Ukulele Club is my happy place,” she said, and the upcoming concert will demonstrate that happiness as she leads the club in the state song, “Arizona.”
The Ukulele Club Concert will support the Sun City Homeowners Association (SCHOA) and is open to the public with tickets costing $15. Sun City residents who join or renew their $25 annual membership in SCHOA will receive two free tickets. Call SCHOA at 623-974-4718 or stop by their office at 10401 W. Coggins Drive to become a member and receive concert tickets.
“The Ukulele Club has really stepped up to help us to connect with the community, in a fun and engaging way that only they could,” said Lisa Gray, general manager. “We truly appreciate their support, which is going to make a big impact on our ability to reach our goals for 2025. We are looking forward to a once in a lifetime concert.”
Membership to SCHOA is $25 and supports the Sun City HOA’s efforts to maintain deed restrictions and thus property values, protect the age overlay, monitor legislation and utility rates, and provide benefits such as the vetted business partner referral program that helps residents avoid frauds and scams.
“We are truly appreciative of the Ukulele Club and their efforts to educate the community about what we do as one of Sun City’s founding organizations, and why membership matters,” Gray said. “Enjoy the concert!”
The Sun City Ukulele Club is open to RCSC members and meets 3 p.m. Thursdays in the Fairway Center Music Room.
