Sun City Tennis Club holds dinner, dance with Italian theme

Posted

The Sun City Tennis Club, consisting of 140 members, recently held its annual dinner and dance party at the Lakeview center. This years theme was Italian-based, including a table traveling accordion player. The food was provided by a local Olive Garden.

Tables were supplied with the appropriate red wine for those who wished to partake and iced tea, coffee or water were also provided. The dinner included a pasta bar with three choices of meat toppings and three sauces. Other main course selections were baked ziti, lasagna, chicken Marsala and pizza.

After dinner, there were three rounds of the game invented in Italy and played across the United States — Bingo. The prizes included tennis racquet restringing at Ray’s Racquets.

Then came a desert bar with deserts brought in by the members. Committee chairman and club vice president Karen Lynch discovered in her planning that members wanted more variety for desert and wanted to bring in their special receipes.

The party got into gear with the DJ and dance music from the 1950s to today, with a mix of rock and romantic songs.

The Sun City Tennis Club is open to all residents. It has “new-to-tennis” red ball play with instructors, along with daily drop-in play and tennis leagues for advanced players.
