Twenty-one swimmers from the Sun City Starrs took their third consecutive, medium sized team, state championship at the Ron Johnson Invitational Swim Meet short-course meter competition Oct. 26-27 in Tempe.
The Starrs are the fitness and competitive arm of the Sun City Swim Club. Team member and coach Leslie Nock accepted the team prize. Individuals took medals in races among their own age groups and genders.
Relay prizes were awarded to age group foursomes based on the total age of participants. One special relay included Lonna Ramsey, her brother Lee Hawkinson and her daughter Anna Ramsey. Two swimmers, Melinda Case and Dale Wiseley, were each awarded High Point Champion in their age and gender groups.
The group practices weekday mornings at Bell Recreation Center pool.
