Sun City Spanish Club gathers for special luncheon

The Sun City Spanish Club’s Teachers Appreciation luncheon was recently held at the Fairway Recreation Center. Among those recognized were Lidwina Erickson (Level 1 Spanish), Sharon Freeman (Level 1 Spanish), Janine Nelson (ASL Sign Language), Deborah Provera (Level 1 Spanish and Spanish Short Stories) Noemi Medina (Beginning Conversation), John Osborn (French), Ruth Hintz (German), Al Houdek (Level 1 and 2 Spanish), Thomas Lopez (Spanish Grammar) and Analia Alva (Spanish Conversation).

Also recognized were board members Steve Fritz (technology), Denette Stoll (social/culture), Kevin Wilson (treasurer), Dan Estep (vice president) and Clyde Thorne (president).

The culture committee completed making clay pottery and the luncheon featured a show from the Rumrunner Steel Drum Band.

The Sun City Spanish Club will continue to have monthly luncheons.

The next class registration starts 5 p.m. Oct. 7 and classes start Oct. 13 at the Fairway Recreation Center. The Spanish Club, or El Círculo Español, offers Spanish classes from beginner through intermediate.

Subject to available volunteer teachers, they also offer French, German and American Sign Language.
