Sun City Sings! is gearing up to present “A Song of Spring,” showcasing a variety of spring-themed songs including show tunes like “The Sound of Music,” “The Promise of Living” from “The Tender Land” and “It Might as Well Be Spring” from “State Fair.” The program will celebrate the power of music and the fresh promise that comes with the arrival of spring.
The concert, 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, at American Lutheran Church, 17200 Del Webb Blvd., is free to attend; a $10 donation is appreciated.
Sun City Players Community Theater expanded its performing arts offerings last fall with the addition of the Sun City Sings! mixed chorus. The 40-member chorus includes several singers who are also actively involved in theater.
Elizabeth Reaves, a professional dancer, actor and singer with more than 20 years of experience, recently appeared in the Sun City Players production of “Cemetery Club” and is also a member of Readers Theater. James Borgman, last seen in “Broadway on 107th,” is finding his voice as a singer, adding a new dimension to his talents.
Carol Rupprecht has performed in musicals from a young age and volunteers her time on props, lighting and sound for theater productions. Along with James Borgman, she recently performed at a Player’s “Monday Night Entertainment” show.
Sun City Sings! is a sanctioned RCSC club, but American Lutheran Church has offered their space for rehearsals and performances.
