Recently I have read a stunning number of opinion letters from Sun City residents that feel they are being forced to pay the yearly fees for the recreation centers within the community.
I beg to differ. We all agreed to pay the Recreation Centers of Sun City fees when we purchased our houses in Sun City. No one forced us to sign this binding agreement. We willingly signed it.
We all purchased here for any number of reasons. Maybe we bought because home prices were less than in other communities, taxes were less or we wanted the lifestyle that Sun City has to offer with all of its recreation facilities. No matter the reason, paying the yearly fee is one of the stipulations to live in this community.
As homeowners, we agree to pay utilities, taxes, insurance and any other number of bills on a regular basis if we want to live in our home. The RCSC fee is just like any other bill we need to pay.
Rec center fees have been a staple in this community for a long time. They aren’t new, and they pay for the Sun City lifestyle, whether you use the facilities or not. If you don’t use the facilities, maybe you bought in the wrong community.
If you live in Sun City and voluntarily agreed to pay the yearly fee and then later say that you are being forced to pay, I have a slight problem with that statement. Maybe I am old-fashioned, but a deal is a deal.
