Sun City Posse hosts speakers, recognizes members

The Sun City Posse welcomed representatives from Adult Protective Services, a division of Aging and Economic Services, at the April 1 general meeting.

The APS team consisting of Pat Moodie-Brown, Praysia Bond and Andrea Bruzon conducted a presentation covering services they provide to those suspected of adult neglect or abuse as well as what to look for when reporting such behavior.

In addition, they touched on the ever-growing scam activity targeting seniors and others and how to report it. The presentation prompted interactive questions from the audience.

This educational presentation is one of the many topics that Posse Cmdr. Tina Anderson plans for the general meetings of the Posse each month.

General meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month and are open to the public.

In addition to the APS presentation, five Posse members were recognized for service that went beyond regular Posse patrol duties, working extra hours to provide traffic and parking control for many community events in March. These volunteers — Cyndy Aseltine, Denis Aseltine, Julie Blake, Linda Johansen and Perry Johansen —  were honored by the commander with We Make a Difference awards. This acknowledgment results from a recommendation from a person’s peers or supervisor and represents public recognition for their service.

The recipients are a sampling of the women and men who give many volunteer hours each year, all year long, to provide needed services to Sun City.
