Sun City Pose to host open house

Tours, demonstrations on tap

While Sundays can lack a little fun, the Sun City Posse can help change that with its annual open house.

The event is scheduled 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 15 at Posse headquarters, 10861 W. Sunland Drive. In addition to viewing the “nuts and bolts” of how the Posse works, there also will be prizes and other activities. The Posse is a community-based organization that is supported by Sun City resident donations, there is no tax money involved in the operation of the group.

“There will be Posse members in their Class A uniforms to direct you on a tour or to talk to you about what the Posse does on a daily basis,” Rich Nonini, Posse 2020 commander, said.

Posse members also will be in each department to talk about what each division does for Sun City residents. Visitors will view the internal operation of the dispatch unit, the training room and the various programs, like the Block Watch. To win a prize, visitors must visit each department where they will receive a ticket for a drawing.

Sun City resident and historian Bill Pearson will give the keynote address during the open house. A representative from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office will be there to talk about the various scams that target senior populations.

Public officials expected to attend are U.S. House Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-AZ), Arizona House Rep. Rick Gray (R-Sun City), Maricopa County Attorney General Allister Adel and Constable Michael Branham. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Sun City Fire and Medical Department will have representatives present and equipment on display.

This will also be visitors’ opportunity to meet the new commander and all of those Posse members who volunteer every day to make Sun City a better place to live.

“I think it is a great opportunity for people to get to know who we are and what we do for the community,” Mr. Nonini said.
