The Sun City Players Community Theater board and various committee members have been hard at work revising plans for the upcoming 2020-21 theater season.
The closing of the recreation centers, and a strict stay-at-home policy has resulted from the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Through modern communications technology, Players members continue meeting to discuss requirements to meet and exceed new social-distancing and health and safety guidelines.
The primary focus is ensuring safety, while providing quality entertainment for loyal theater fans. Video conferencing has allowed members to address the many challenges associated with the new policies. Players’ Play Selection committee has revised its upcoming season play schedule; considering constraints unanticipated until recently.
Also engaged in planning for the future, the Players Transition Committee surveyed members to learn what health and safety adjustments would make them feel secure in returning to the theater.
Social-distancing restrictions will affect not only audience size but cast and crew size and set design requirements. The Play selection committee is now in the process of reading and reviewing scripts that will not only entertain audiences, but also provide a healthy and safe environment for actors and patrons.
Despite the challenges presented by the coronavirus, Sun City Players Community Theater members are endeavoring to bring the 2020-21 theater season to its audience in the most positive, safe, and healthy way, and will soon release updated information about play selections, ticket availability and attendance policies once plans are finalized.
Performances take place at the Mountain View Recreation Center auditorium, 9749 N. 107th Ave., Sun City.
