The Sun City Players Community Theater has announced this season’s two mainstage productions. “Drinking Habits,” a farcical comedy, will be performed the weekends of Nov. 15-17 and 22-24, while “The 1940’s Radio Hour,” a bygone era musical, will be presented the weekends of March 14-16 and 21-23, 2025. There will be three matinees and three evening performances for each production at the Mountain View Recreation Center, 9749 N. 107th Ave. Season tickets are now on sale for $25 for both shows.
For those who would like to try acting without having to memorize lines or be surrounded by elaborate sets, the Readers Theater offers two-hour creative and expressive sessions 10 a.m.-noon every other Saturday through Dec. 28 at the Fairway Recreation Center, 10600 W. Peoria Ave. RSVP for any or all session dates ahead of time to Ray Schiel, 323-336-5437 or scpct.rte@gmail.com.
Individuals who want to be educated about acting in general, or what goes on behind the main stage and/or how to become involved in the social aspects of community theater, can attend the Clubhouse. These workshops will be conducted 9:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2-Nov. 13, at Mountain View.
Monthly club meetings are 7 p.m. the third Monday of the month through May 2025 at Mountain View. Song and Story Night is Sept. 16, G-Man is featured Oct. 21 and three one-act plays will be performed Nov. 16. Meetings are open to Players members, Sun City resident non-members and escorted guests.
