Sun City musicians wrap up driveway concert series

Although temperatures are rising, shows expected to continue later this year

A group of Sun City musicians on May 13 performed their third and final driveway concert of the season to entertain neighbors and provide some safe-distance socializing during quarantine conditions.

Glenn Torrico, Mary Lababidi, and the trio One Eyed Ford performed again on Eric Laubach’s driveway near the area of Cameo Drive and Boswell Boulevard. Mr. Laubach, Jenn Steege and Bill Burkett comprise One Eyed Ford, which plays country, rock, and originals with Arizona themes.

The playlist included a Kenny Rogers tribute with “The Gambler” and a salute to Chuck Berry with “Roll Over Beethoven.”

A few dozen watched at safe distances down the street, and more than 100 watched online via Facebook. The performance lasted 90 minutes.

With summer temperatures now rising, the group is planning for another driveway concert the day after Thanksgiving, with a two-hour show called “SunStock.”
