The Del Webb Sun Cities Museum will celebrate the 126th birthday of the community’s founder with a special program Saturday, May 17.
The museum will honor the life and accomplishments of Del E. Webb during a program planned 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Activities include entertainment by the Tip Top Dancers at 10:30 and 11 a.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Visitors are encouraged to visit the Del Webb Room to view exhibits focusing on the accomplishments of Del Webb and the company he founded, including his time as owner of the New York Yankees and his ownership of several casinos in Las Vegas.
The museum is home to a large collection of Webb’s personal items and mementos.
Several films featuring Del Webb, including an appearance on “The Merv Griffin Show” several months before he died in 1974, will be shown in the Sundome Jr. Theater.
Complimentary cupcakes will be provided by The Nixon Group, official sponsors of the birthday celebration.
The museum is located at 10801 W. Oakmont Drive in the first of five model homes available when Sun City first opened on Jan. 1, 1960.
